The Cook’s Brief
Curiosity at the table.
We bring together approachable recipes, practical kitchen ideas and food news for everyday US home cooks.
Established ideas, clearly explained
Our recipes begin with research across published cooking sources. We compare methods, choose a consistent approach, and write clear directions with ingredient checklists and sources you can follow. Attribution is shown on every recipe.
Research-based, not kitchen-tested
We have not cooked these recipes. Research and software checks do not replace a kitchen trial. Timings are estimates; use the doneness cues and, where specified, a food thermometer. We do not publish invented ratings, reader reviews or testing claims.
Images that illustrate the dish
The first collection uses AI-generated food illustrations, labeled on the cards and recipe pages. They show the intended ingredients and presentation; they are not photographs of meals we prepared. We do not reuse publishers’ photographs without permission.
Measurements you can follow
US measurements are the default. The metric option uses rounded grams for ounce/pound weights and rounded milliliters for cup/spoon volumes. Counts stay counts. We do not invent ingredient-specific gram weights from volume. Steps show both temperature systems.
A small first collection
We’re starting with three recipes and a handful of useful reads. Newsletter signup and daily automated publication are still in development.
